Dr. Jessica Slade, Owner

“At 6 years old, I was gifted my first best friend, Sassy cat. We did everything together…played dolls, dress up, board games, took bubble baths (she sat on the edge of the tub), and snuggled to sleep. Even at that young age, I could appreciate the special bond people have with their pets. My love for animals grew and I found joy in “rescuing” every injured bird, mouse, and stray pet I came across. It was no surprise when my love for animals and my favorite subject of science collided as my pursuit to become a veterinarian. I am blessed to have achieved this lifelong goal and am honored by the trust placed in me by pets and the people who love them. I treasure the long-term relationships developed with my clients as we work together to ensure their pets receive the best care possible and are always treated with kindness, compassion, and respect. The bonus as a practice owner is being able to assemble an entire team that feels the same way I do about our patients and clients.”

Dr. Slade grew up in the small town of Lake Placid, FL. She graduated with honors from the University of Florida with both her Bachelor’s (2010) and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (2015) degrees. She has also completed a special course in dentistry offered through the University of Illinois. Dr. Slade has a special interest in soft tissue surgery and dentistry. In her downtime, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, fur-babies, and son who they welcomed in November 2018. Dr. Slade has 5 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 horses.

Dr. Kathryn Hope

Growing up I was a total bookworm. I remember the opening story of James Harriot’s All Creatures Great and Small explaining how he was helping to birth a calf in the cold English winter and how filthy and tired he was. The feelings he described of accomplishment, hard work, and of course calf snuggles was the spark that ignited my passion for veterinary medicine. Every time someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I always said Veterinarian, the thought of any another career path never crossed my mind. I started my career as a Veterinarian working exclusively with horses. I had many “James Harriot” moments of being freezing in the Kentucky winters helping birth foals and wrangle goats in the mud. It wasn’t until I found out I was expecting my own baby that my passions for veterinary medicine evolved. I had provided medical care for many barn cats and farm dogs but I didn’t recognize my passion for small animal medicine until later in my career. I am fortunate to now have new “James Harriot” moments every day helping to provide the best medical care to the dogs and cats of Tradition.”

Dr. Hope grew up in North Florida. She graduated from Berry College with her Bachelors of Science with a major in Animal Science (2010) and continued her education with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida (2015). Dr. Hope spent several years practicing veterinary medicine in Kentucky before relocating back to her home state of Florida. Dr. Hope has a special interest in internal medicine and preventative care. When she is not working she spends her time in the ocean with her husband and daughter.

Dr. Allison Massenzio

Spending summers on my grandparents’ farm in Northern Ireland instilled in me a deep love for animals from an early age. Surrounded by dogs, cats, horses, chickens, and other farm animals — even raising a pet gosling — I developed a natural connection with animals that would shape my future. Back home in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey area, that passion only grew, and I became determined to make a difference in their world by becoming a veterinarian. I pursued my undergraduate studies at Rutgers University (Cook College), earning a degree in Animal Science with a minor in Equine Science. I then returned “across the pond” to attend the University of Liverpool Veterinary School in the U.K., graduating in 2003.

Dr. Massenzio’s veterinary career began in a mixed-animal practice in Upstate New York, working with both small animals and horses. From there, she moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she focused exclusively on small-animal medicine. Over the years, she has developed special interests in dermatology, internal medicine, pet nutrition, and the unique needs of senior pets. Her work has been published in the Journal of Animal Science, and in 2006, she was honored to be selected as the model for Nationwide Pet Insurance. She has also been quoted by the North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA) and has appeared in several television segments related to pet health. Now based in Florida with her two children, Dr. Massenzio is proud to be part of this warm and welcoming community. When she is not at Faith Animal Hospital, you’ll likely find her cheering on her daughter at swim meets or fishing along the coast with her son.
